Condolences
Judith Cooper A Classmate August 30, 2011

To Cecil's Family

I have just recently learned of your loss.  I was a classmate of Cecil's, I believe from 1st through 12th grade.  I remember him well.  Although his stature was strong and mighty, his spirit and heart were kind, thoughtful and loving.  I will tell you just one story I remember so well about your dad, husband, brother, uncle, grandfather.  When we were in 5th or sixth grade, I had pneumonia, and was out of school for three months.  I was allowed to come back to school close to the end of the year.  Our teacher appointed Cecil to "look out" for me.  He was my Guardian Angel by just being himself.  He was so very watchful of me, helping me up and down the stairs, escorting me where ever our class had to go.  He was the best!

I want you to know how grieved I am for you, his family.  I can only imagine how very much you miss him, not only physically, but am sure you also miss his sweet spirit.  My prayers for comfort and strength are lifting you up.

To the Family of cecil Mills: I was so very sad to hear of the tragic loss of your loved one. I was in the graduating class of 1961 from South Dade High School. Although I did not know your dad, I remember him as being a very nice person. I am sure that I would have enjoyed knowing him better if the opportunity had presented itself. I do remember that he was quite an athlete, and have discovered some clippings from two of his football games among my high school memorabelia. He is specifically mentioned in the two articles. I would be happy to mail these to anyone keeping a scrapbook if you would send me  an address. I am on Facebook or can be reached at Brenda.Glissmeyer@comcast.net. Again, please accept my condolences from a former classmate. Sincerely, Brenda Welch Glissmeyer

You don't know me but I was a juror on the recent trial. I wanted to share my sympathy with you and your family. I am very sorry for your loss. Looking through your pictures of your father really touched my heart, he looked like a very caring and gentle soul. Even though the trial is over and people will say you have closure, I know you will never feel closure without your father. But what you do have are wonderful memories and pictures to share. You are in my thoughts and prayers....It was a privelege to serve and to now have justice for Cecil Mills.

I am so sorry I did not know of this sooner as I see we live not too far apart.  I have known your father since I was 5, so that would have made him 10.  My family lived next door and Donald, Cecil, Gary, & Darlene were my friends. I was always welcome at the Mills' home. I am sorry we all lost contact. We had our daughter about the time Cecil & Susan had Sherry. I remember Cecil was a football star in highschool.  That's what we played in the front yard - football!   Mr Mills could play the harmonica like no one I had ever heard, while playing the guitar, too.  I was impressed. Mrs Mills was one of the sweetest women I ever met.  She was always cooking for her boys.
I am very sad to hear Cecil faced something so violent.  He was a kind, gentle person.  You will all be in our thoughts and prayers.  Debbie McClelland   mctede@windstream.net

Christina Barnes To Mr Mills, and to his family January 18, 2010

To Mr Mills,

Though I have never met you, I feel as though I know who you are through the love, beauty, and compassion that you passed on to your children.  You did an amazing job, as everything they have done to honor you is a true reflection of what you have given to them.  I thank you....for they have been able to give me comfort and peace in my own time of grief.  BE AT PEACE MR MILLS, and know that your children will live their lives to persue justice and honor your memory.  Say hello to my mom, and be prepared that she will talk your ear off!  Til we meet one day. :)  Christina
